Moffat RFC would like to present our Captain, Vice-Captain and Modern Apprentice for the 2017 / 18 season.
Captain Johnny Little has taken on the role after a long playing career for the Senior team. Our veteran Prop, one of the original lambs, is now into his 10th year as a senior player with the home side as well as being our U14 team Coach and an active committee member. Vice-Captain Leon Kirk, an equally committed and loyal Centre who first pulled on a Rams jersey as a junior in 2005 progressing to seniors at 16. A bad car accident meant he could no longer play the sport he loves but after 3yrs he eventually was given the all clear to lace up his boots once again and we are glad to have him back. Both will work with Head Coach Cammy Little to take the Rams forward through the new season in West 3 which sees them travel to Bishopton RFC on Saturday.
Mark Walker Jones takes over as Modern Apprentice. Mark has been a winger with the Senior team for a year after completing a successful transition from the Junior section of the club where he has been a member for several years. He will join Head Coach Cammy Little in delivering rugby at various schools in the region as part of the SRU Development plan as well as at Moffat RFC in the junior section.
“It’s fantastic to see our juniors carry on through the ranks into the Senior set up but also taking on roles of responsibility within the club. This is exactly what the founding coach of the club wanted to see happen and the current committee are delighted to be able to play a part in making it happen in his absence. The club look forward to working with the new Senior and Development team for the coming season and many more thereafter.”
