Well what can I say? Absolutely fantastic away day for Moffat RFC Junior Rams to the Cambuslang Rugby & Sports Club Junior Rugby Festival. Thanks to the hosts for a great day and well run programme.
Let's start with the P4/5 team . . . Undefeated all season, they turned up today and keep that record. The first game was end to end with Cambuslang answering back to almost every try but the wee ones kept their cool winning 6 - 3. Next up was West of Scotland who put up a great fight with Moffat edging out a 5 - 2 win. The final game against Falkirk was end to end again with some great tackling and passing. Once again Moffat minis knuckled down and ran out a 9 - 4. Good fun rugby on display. Well done to all the juniors and thanks to the coaches and referees.
Hat's off to our very own dynamic coaching duo, Thomas and Sandy who should be extremely proud of the team they have sculpted.
Moving on to the P6/7. First up were Falkirk. The game started off really well with some great movement of the ball. A couple of injuries for Falkirk in the second half left them short so our subs stepped in and made up their team. Final score Moffat 5 Falkirk 1. Second match was against Paisley, again great movement of the ball and tackling from both sides with Moffat putting their coaches advice into action. The match ended Moffat 6 Paisley 2. Fresh from that win they took to the pitch again for their final match against the host side. The P6/7 team pulled up their socks and got the job done. Passing, tackling, communication all on display by both sides with Moffat dominating and ending the day with an 11 - 2 win. Well done to Mark and Cammy for their hard work with the team and Chas for the support. All the practice in training is really working well on the field.
Well done to all players and thanks to the coaches and referees.
With the exception of one parent all matches were played in great spirit with a competitive edge and some fantastic rugby on show. The future Scotland team certainly has some great prospects!!
Huge thank you to the Moffat RFC parents for making the journey today.
